images of the area in Guildford and outside the house

We are a short walk from the High Street and Guildford’s many shops and restaurants. Good food can be had at the Weyside pub (01483 568024), 5 minutes walk away, or try our favourite Italian, Bar Centro (01483 302888) on Sydenham Road, or it’s rather more grown-up big sister Cambio (01483 577702) on South Hill (both closed on Sunday). Many other restaurants are at the top of the High Street.

Walk in the other direction and you will be on the top of the North Downs or in Chantry Woods, both perfect for picnics. In the summer season, rowing boats can be rented from the boathouse next to the Weyside pub (park in the Millmead carpark) or you can walk for miles along the river.

further afield
The Cass Sculpture Foundation at Goodwood (www.sculpture.org.uk) is around I hour away, as is Pallant House in Chichester (www.pallant.org.uk); both are absolute gems and well worth visiting. For more sculpture the Hannah Peschar Sculpture Garden (www.hannahpescharsculpture.com) is around 45 minutes away.

In nearby Woking The Lightbox (www.thelightbox.org.uk) arts centre, designed by Marks Barfield has now opened. The building is stunning and the exhibition programme is interesting.
